Leader
The Pathwise Leader Program is a year-long immersive study and practice in knowledge from graduate-level psychology. Through the process leaders develop a rare capacity to become aware of the present - and otherwise unconscious - perceptions and behaviors that limit them and their relationships with others. They also learn and hone their psychological thinking: that is, how to perceive, understand, and act on nuanced psychological dynamics. This is more than psychological education because it increases the leader’s cognitive level.
All candidates for the leader program participate in an enrollment interview. A good candidate for the program is one who possesses sufficient ego-strength to learn about and see otherwise unknown facts about him/herself - facts that usually trigger defensiveness. Also of importance is the degree to which he or she understands that knowing oneself is pivotal to leadership.
The learning experiences in Pathwise sessions often combine “aha” moments of clarity and comprehension with the sense of shared trust and adventure one might associate with learning along with others in a highly collegial environment.
The 8-12 participants in each leader program group (or cohort) come from a range of positions within diverse companies, which often accelerates their willingness to be vulnerable without fear of consequence.
The 3-hour-long sessions occur on a roughly monthly basis. Between sessions, participants are encouraged to practice and experiment with the concepts they’ve learned as a group. Each participant also has four 1:1 individual instruction and advising meetings.
Participation in the leader program results in a more mature and less reactive leader, open to collaboration and more capable of recruiting, retaining, and accelerating the performance of their talented people.
